How do I request for a quotation?

Follow the steps below to request quotation:-

Step 1: Click 'Get A Quotation' on buySolar's website.

Step 2: Select 'Business Solution'. Enter details in "Get Estimated Cost For Business" page and click 'Estimate'.

Step 3: On "Your Estimated Electricity Bill With Solar" page, click 'Get A Quotation'.

Step 4: buySolar will send you a new user ID via email. This ID is for you to log in to buySolar website. You will receive an email from buySolar to change password on buySolar user login.

Step 5: buySolar will request you to provide the electricity bills from the past 6 months and photo(s) of your premise's rooftop via email.

Step 6: buySolar will forward the supporting documents including the electricity bill and premise's rooftop photo(s) to supplier. A quotation will be prepared by the supplier.



How do I view the quotation?

First, you have to request a quotation. Then, log in to buySolar.

Follow the steps below to view quotation(s):-

Step 1: Click on 'Hi [your name]'. Tap on 'My Quotations'. OR, if you see a left panel, tap on 'My Quotations'. You will see the quotation listing from the supplier(s) you selected.

a) Quotation Requested
b) Quotation In Progress - When supplier is preparing the quotation.
c) Quotation Received - When supplier has prepared and submitted the quotation.
d) Quotation Accepted - After you have made a deposit payment and accepted the final quotation.
e) Quotation Cancelled - When supplier has cancelled the quotation.

Step 2: The quotation will be ready to view when the status shows Quotation Received. Click on the quotation number link to load the quotation details screen.



Will there be any consultation on the quotation received?

After your quotation is ready, you will be contacted by a buySolar consultant.
A free consultation session will be provided to you to brief and explain the proposal.
The consultant will also cover the process involved for the entire flow of getting solar installed.

After the consultation, you may ask for a site assessment from the supplier that you selected to get a final quotation.



What should I do if I am satisfied with a quotation?

There are 2 options available for commercial and industrial solar installation which are opex model and capex (outright purchase) model. If you are eligible for both options, both options will be included in the quotation.

First, you have to decide which model you are going to proceed with. You need to indicate your choice on buySolar website.

Opex model: If you are going to proceed with opex model, the supplier will contact you for further actions.

Capex model: If you are going to proceed with the outright purchase, then you may secure a site visit with the supplier. During the site visit, the supplier will brief and explain to you regarding the recommended specifications.

After the site visit, supplier will prepare a final quotation according to your discussion and submit it to you. You may accept the final quotation and a job order will be created.

The supplier will update you on the NEM application status and the progress of your solar panel installation.



How do I secure a site visit or site assessment with the Supplier?

You may inform our consultant on your interest to request a site assessment. Our consultant will do the necessary for you.
Alternatively, you may follow the steps below:-

Step 1: Click on 'Hi [your name]'. Tap on 'My Quotations'. OR, if you see a left panel, tap on 'My Quotations'. You will see the quotation listing from the supplier(s) you selected.

Step 2: There are 2 methods to request site visit.

Method 1:- Click on the checkbox beside the quotation you are satisfied with in the listing, click 'Secure Site Visit'.

Method 2:- Click on the quotation number link in the quotation listing to load the quotation details screen. On the quotation details screen, click 'Secure Site Visit'.

Step 3: You will see a payment screen if the supplier requires an initial payment. Make the payment to proceed with site visit arrangements.

Step 4: You will see a site visit schedule screen. Click 'Secure Site Visit'. You will see a message informing you that your request has been forwarded to the supplier. The supplier will make necessary arrangements for the visit.





Site Visit Appointment

How do I know my site visit request is arranged?

When supplier schedules a site visit, you will receive a WhatsApp message; and an email at your registered email address.

Alternatively, log in to buySolar to find out whether there is a site visit request.

Step 1: Click on 'Hi [your name]'. Tap on 'My Quotations'. OR, if you see a left panel, tap on 'My Quotations'. You will see the quotation listing from the supplier(s) you selected. You will see that the quotation status shows "Site Visit Requested". If there is a site visit date shown on the listing, your site visit has been scheduled.

Step 2: Click on 'Site Visit Schedule' to view site visit appointment details.



What do I do with the site visit request from the supplier?

You can view the site visit appointment details screen by clicking on 'Site Visit Schedule' in the quotation listing screen. These information will be listed on the site visit appointment details screen:-

a) Appointment Date and Time

b) Person in Charge

c) Contact Number

You can contact the supplier to re-schedule the site visit if the stated date and time are not suitable. To do so, click 'Message'.



I have made an appointment with the contractor, who will attend the appointment?

The supplier will arrange for the person in charge to attend the appointment.

The contact number of the person in charge is shown on the site visit appointment details screen.

You can view the site visit appointment details screen by clicking on 'Site Visit Schedule' in the quotation listing screen.





Final Quotation

What happens after the site visit?

During the site visit, the supplier will brief and explain to you regarding the recommended specifications.

After the site visit, the supplier will prepare a final quotation based on the site visit and your needs or requirements. You may review the final quotation in the "My Quotation" section.



How do I proceed to the next step after I am satisfied with the Final Quotation submitted by the preferred supplier?

You may accept the final quotation to have a job order created for you.
The supplier will start the NEM application through SEDA. After obtaining NEM certificate, you may make the full payment to continue with the solar panel installation.

Follow the steps below to accept final quotation:-

Step 1: Click on 'Hi [your name]'. Tap on 'My Quotations'. OR, if you see a left panel, tap on My Quotations. You will see the quotation listing from the supplier(s) you selected.

Step 2: There are 2 methods to accept the final quotation.

Method 1:- Click on the checkbox beside the quotation you are satisfied with in the listing, click 'Accept Quotation'.

Method 2:- Click 'View Details' in the quotation listing to load the quotation details screen. On the quotation details screen, click 'Accept Quotation' at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: You will see a payment screen if the supplier requires an initial payment. If no initial payment is required, you will see a confirmation screen.

Step 4: Once, you have successfully accepted the final quotation, you will see "Thank You For Accepting Final Quotation" displayed on the screen. If you want to apply for bank financing, click 'Apply for Financing'. If not, click 'My Order' to display the order listing page.





Job Order

What happens after I accept the quotation and the Job Order is created?

Below are the activities involved after the job order is created:-

1) MIDA, NEMAS, NEM Application

2) If payment method is Cash or Credit Card, then

a) Make full payment upon NEM approval where you will get the NEM certificate

b) Solar Panel Installation

3) If payment method is Bank Financing, then

a) Secure the loan

b) Solar Panel Installation

c) Loan disbursement to Supplier



Do I need to start the solar installation immediately after getting the NEM approval?

No, you have 12 months from the NEM certification date to commence the installation process.



How do I ensure the supplier will do a good job with the installation after the full payment is made?

buySolar will only release the payment to the supplier after you acknowledge that the solar panel installation is completed and in order.





Services and Installation

How is the installation appointment made?

The installation appointment is made according to the process flow below :-

a) The supplier will confirm the solar panel installation date and time via message on buySolar website's or via direct call to customers.

b) You will receive the installation appointment date and time on buySolar's job order installation appointment screen.



Can I change the installation location?

You are not allowed to change the installation location as the NEM certificate obtained from SEDA is only applicable to the address of the installation location.

In order to change the installation location, the NEM application process needs to be repeated.



Upon completion of the installation, will I need to sign any acknowledgement documents?

Upon completion of the installation, the supplier will request for an acknowledgement document to be signed for invoicing purposes.

The document that you have signed will be uploaded by the supplier to buySolar website later.
You also need to acknowledge that the installation has been completed on the buySolar website.
Only then will your payment be released to the supplier.



How do I make a complaint if I am not happy with the services?

You may make you complaint(s) or report(s) by leaving a message on the 'Contact Us' page.

Our Customer Care Specialist Team will attend to your complaint accordingly.





Warranty and Maintenance

Is there a warranty for the service and solar system?

The warranty for the solar system depends on the warranty provided by the manufacturer. Each component might have different warranty terms.

All the warranty terms and conditions must be clearly stated in the quotation prepared by the supplier/contractor.

You may check with the supplier/contractor to find out the details of the warranty terms. Follow the steps below to message your supplier:

Step 1: Click on the message icon at the bottom right of your screen to start a conversation.

Step 2: Click the respective supplier on the left panel of the messaging screen. Type your message in the text box and click 'Send'.



How do I know that the solar system is performing according to the expectations?

You will be able to monitor the solar-system performance after the solar installation via the monitoring dashboard. This is only available if the solar-system installation is completed through buySolar platform.

The monitoring dashboard includes :-

a) Monthly Yield from Solar

b) Monthly Target

c) Solar System Health Monitoring





Tax Incentives

What is Capital Allowance (CA)?

The Capital Allowance (CA) is given to owners of businesses (Sdn Bhd & Bhd) who invest in solar installation. It is deductible from “adjusted income” for the cost of solar installation under Schedule 3 of Income Tax Act 1967. The solar installation will fall under the category of “plant and machinery” and the cost is deductible as Initial Allowance (20%) on the first year and Annual Allowance (14%) for each year.



Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA)

Since 2018, the Malaysia Government provides Green Investment Tax Allowance as an initiative to encourage the purchasing of green technologies. In terms of rate of incentive, Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) of 100% of qualifying capital expenditure incurred on approved green technology assets from the date of purchase until 31 December 2020. The allowance can be offset against 70% of statutory income in the year of assessment. On top of that, unutilized allowances can be carried forward until they are fully absorbed.

Promoted projects include renewable energy, energy efficiency, integrated waste management and green building / data center. In other words, companies that obtained qualifying green technology assets are eligible for the application of GITA. Eligible companies would also need to comply with all the following requirements:

  • Minimize the deterioration of the environment or reduce greenhouse emissions.
  • Focus on promoting health and improvement of the environment.
  • Conserve the use of energy, water and other forms of natural resources, or promote the use of renewable energy, or recyclable waste material resources.

Can I apply GITA?

In order to apply for the GITA, your company needs to fulfil the following criteria:

  • Company must be incorporated under the Companies Act, 1965/2016.
  • Achieve the following green results:
    • Showcase energy usage and/or other forms of natural resources or promote the use of renewable energy or recycle waste material resources.
    • Minimise the environmental harm and reduce the level of greenhouse gas emissions.
    • Promote health and improve the environment.

How much will I save?

In a nutshell, you can receive a double tax deduction on the money spent on solar installation. The tax savings are as follows:

  • For companies in the 25% tax bracket (adjustable income above RM500, 000), 50% of the amount of money spent on a solar PV installation can be recovered through these tax incentives.
  • For companies in the 20% tax bracket (adjustable income below RM500, 000), 40% of the cost of solar installation can be recovered.
